As many of our states and countries go into lockdown we are being advised if not required to wear face masks when outdoors and while social distancing. With shortages of much needed PPE (Personal protection equipment) it is further recommended that those who are not immunocompromised/suppressed or are not feeling ill use cloth face coverings.
You can make your own mask simply by using cotton cloth around the house or even use a bandana or scarf. The CDC has tutorials on cloth masks and Youtube has many videos to help you do this quickly and easily. Here are some tips from the Center of Disease Control (CDC):
- Face coverings should be washed frequently depending on use.
- Be careful not to touch your eyes, mouth and nose when removing face covering and wash hands for 20 seconds immediately after use.
- Do not use face masks of children ages 2 and under, anyone who has problem breathing or cannot remove mask without assistance.
- Face covering should be made of breathable cotton fabric.
For those of you who would like the added convenience of ready made masks, I’ve been using my days in isolation sewing masks I hope you’ll find fashionable and useful. Please note these are NOT medical grade masks or PPE. They are versatile, double layered, washable, adjustable, not made in a factory and allow you to wear medical grade masks under them.
STAY SAFE AND IF YOU CAN, STAY HOME!.

Frequently Asked Questions
Shipping is free domestically and will ship via USPS First Class Mail. I’ve found that it is the best option as service with UPS and FEDEX has proven to be inconsistent in my experience. Even with this please allow additional time for shipping as USPS has also experienced delays albeit not as long.
If you prefer to ship another way I can facilitate this but you will incur the cost and shipping will no longer be free. Just send me a message with your request and we can work something out.
With Covid-19 lockdowns causing shipping delays even domestically, international shipping has seen longer delays. If you do not mind the delays I am willing to ship internationally as well. However, because shipping prices differ depending on location I may not be able to cover that costs of shipping. Please contact me via firstname.lastname@example.org with your destination and I will give you more information.
Your mask comes with elastic straps that are knotted at the end.
When you first receive the mask do not remove this knot as it helps keep straps in place while you determine what’s the most comfortable fit for you.
Place elastic ear loops over ear, pull the strap gently to determine fit. Once perfect fit is realized, create a knot and you’re all set.
If you feel you will not need to adjust later you can cut excess strap or leave to fall behind ear for later adjustments.
Filters help to add an extra layer of protection. There are many options for you to choose from, the ones that I’ve found online that offer research done on them are below. As always no one method is for everyone so please be diligent in researching what is the best option for you.
- Hepa Filters
- Coffee Filters
- Paper Towels
My masks are hand made by me and my sewing machine. I am willing to make custom masks based on your fabric and print selection if the fabric/print is still available. Just send me a note for more information.
